Your Journey of Body Kindness... journaling can help

Welcome back to my body kindness series.

You can achieve better health and happiness…

  • even if you don't feel you can accept and even love your body the way it is

  • even if you are thinking you are the worst eater in the entire universe

  • even if you hate exercising and have never done it

  • even if you can't name a single healthy thing you do

You can experience better health and more happiness. Like the Lao-tzu quote says, start with a single step.

One step clients and I have found to guide us through the journey of health is journaling. Writing down thoughts and feelings increases your awareness of what’s happening and why it matters to you, which can be motivating, if not insightful.

If journaling isn't your thing, that's okay.

Being kind to yourself may focus more on these manifestos:

  1. I don’t have to change everything in my life right now.

  2. All my health efforts, big and small, make a difference in my energy and my mindset.

  3. I’m allowed to struggle and make mistakes in self-care. When I’m having a tough time, I can choose to see it as a challenge and opportunity for growth - it is NOT a judgment of my worthiness.

  4. Taking care of my cherished relationships and taking time for myself are just as important to my well-being as is what I eat and how much I exercise.

  5. I take care of my body every day in ways that are meaningful to me... practicing compassion, love, and connection.

Can you respect your body as it is right now? Even if you wish you could change it?

The journey of body kindness is meant to shift your mindset by working with your current beliefs to create new experiences and change how you see things. Journaling can help.

Lao-tzu had it right: A single step can mean progress toward being kinder to ourselves.

Your body knows what it needs, and you can trust it. You can learn how to trust your body's hunger cues to get off the endless cycle of dieting.
