Nutrition Sessions & Services
Nutrition Sessions
During your sessions, will not only explore what is happening with food in your life, we will also explore the why.
We will learn why you are eating the way you are eating.
We will try and figure out if the reason is due to physical or emotional reasons.
We will discuss body image issue, society's thin-ideal, diet culture, intuitive eating, normal eating, and so much more.
More often than not, behaviors started as a coping mechanism to help you get through a time in your life. The behaviors were helpful...till they weren't. Knowing the why will help us on our path towards your eating recovery. Your “why” may have started because of any of the below reasons or any reasons not listed:
Emotional reasons including depression, anxiety, stress, etc.
Body image
Society’s pressure for bodies to look a certain way
Physical reasons, such as hunger and fullness
Diet culture
Trauma
Biology/Genetics
I do not prescribe diets.
You won't walk away with a meal plan telling you to eat a certain number of calories and a specific type of food at each meal. Diets will cause weight gain in the long run. I will help you find balance.
If you are needing structure with timing, finding balance with carb/pro/fat - yes we will talk about that. Nutrition recovery is about knowing what the body needs and intuitively eating the food that will fuel the cells and the soul.
If you are coming to me from a treatment center and you are following their meal plan, you will follow the same meal plan when working with me.
We specialize in working with teens and pre-teens.
Kids of all genders feel the pressure for body perfection. All teens can be affected by an appearance-oriented world. Some are hating their bodies and fantasizing that they’ll be liked or admired more if only their bodies were “perfect”.
Often teens hear “I’m worried about your weight—you’ve gained too much this year.” This can make your teen feel bad and inadequate and even scared. They may believe that they’re not good enough just as they are; they may have been tempted to go on diets so they can get the perfect body.
The problem is many people who diet go on to bingeing after they “fall” off the diet. Studies show when you hear that someone is on a diet, it’s a good bet that there could be a future eating disorder in the making. And what’s really scary is that young kids who diet have a big chance of developing an eating disorder by the time they’re in their teens.
We will slowly work on intuitive eating and listen to hunger and fullness as the driver to why/when/what you eat.
